Guys , have a look at the above YouTube video clip . It is a brilliant story of how aviculture can work with ornithology to help save a bird species from possible extinction . Ryan Watson , an aviculturist from Australia , was hand picked by the Al Wabra preservation reserve in Qutar to help save the Spix Macaw from extinction . Eelco Meyjes met Ryan Watson some years ago when he was doing work on the threatened Echo Parakeet and Pink Pigeon in Mauritius before he was recruited to assist with the conservation work on the Spix Macaw .
In December 2010 Cromwell Purchase , from South Africa who has 2 Phd’s and is an avid aviculturist and friend of the Rare Finch Conservationist Group was also recruited to assist with the outstanding conservation work on the Spix Macaw.
